Local Search Engine Optimization

Thursday, October 15, 2009
As the fastest growing vertical in search, many people are now starting to recognize the value of local search engine optimization can have on their site traffic. Also known as regional search, it's basically geo-targeting your audience when they search.

Local search works best for the service provider, or a retailer that has numerous locations. While the search volume won't be as great as a non-regional phrase, the person who reaches your site will be a more targeted visit and most likely ready to convert.

Another happy accident in local search is that for sites that are well optimized may also pick up rankings in mobile search.

So, here's what you need to do in order to rank for local seo:

* Be sure to have your location(s) full address
* If you have a regional number, list that as well since some people start with an area code
  • Be sure to include driving directions to your location
  • Use a mapping service to display your location
  • Have pictures of your locations and name them with your street address
  • Make sure your site appears in any regional directory that might be online
  • If you can afford it, get listed in your local yellow pages
  • Place the regions you want to rank for in your page titles
  • Get text links that contain the regional phrase

Most of these techniques are are not only common sense, but also good web design. If you're in business, you want people to be able to find you, right?

Monday, October 12, 2009
With the many techniques that people are now learning on how to make the easiest money by their Adsense, it is not surprising that Google is trying everything to update and polish their Adsense in order to maintain their good image.

Page rank for sale. If you have been online for quite some time, you will notice that there are some sites selling their PR links or trading them with other sites. If you are doing this, expect a ban anytime in the future. It is okay to sell ads or gain the link. But doing it on direct advertisement of your page rank is a way to get on search engines bad side.

Do not tell your family or friends about Adsense on your website. Chances are they may start clicking on them to help you make money without you knowing it. They may be doing more harm to you than help by trying it in the first place.

Many web site owners are getting their Google Adsense account terminated when they have done nothing wrong to deserve the punishment. Considering the money that they are getting from Adsense, they would certainly want to get back into it.

This navigation logic can also be applied to driving traffic to your high paying pages. There are some websites that are getting a lot of traffic from search engines, but have low earnings. This is one great way of turning real cheap clicks to real dollars.

Adsense Is an Easy Program to Grasp

For the browsing audience this is probably the most straightforward model available, because they can be directed to a lot of new sites they wouldn't have otherwise found. Needless to say, if you have an Adsense banner on your site, and a large number of visitors you'll know it offers a great financial benefit.

But why does it work for the people clicking the links, as opposed to a standard approach?

It is aided by today's society. With bloggers and information based articles on the internet, people may be encouraged to complete purchases, which adsense can provide links to relevant suppliers whilst also benefiting the publisher.

And the good thing about this is that it works for site visitors as well. In fact Google realized that by pleasing the people who are looking for something, and directing them to what they need faster, everybody wins.

It is because of this that a lot of websites promote through Adsense in both content and search. They do it because they ultimately learned that it works for everyone.

If we look in the past, we can realize that this kind of publicity has a great impact over the people, especially in the last few years. When we enter on a web site and we see a graphical banner, our first idea is to cancel it out of our mind, because it's of no concern to us.

That's why traditional banner advertising is wrong. It's precisely because people are becoming savvy that they don't look at a flashy banner because they think they'll be losing their time with it.

We've gotten accustomed to banners that don't interest us. And we're accustomed to them having nice graphics. So we naturally associate the two things and think that a banner with nice graphics has nothing to tell us.

But we might look at a text-ad because we've grown accustomed to them being targeted at what we're looking for. Basically these advertisements have marketed themselves into being looked at by any visitor.

This is a typical "no fluff, just stuff" situation. And in the end it means the visitors will see what they're interested in, not some random cool graphics you throw at them.

As stated above, site visitors adopt this advertising mechanism, because it is efficient in leading them to pages of interest and can offer ton of things they really want to see. Someone coming across an article on adsense was probably looking for shoes or doing research on shoes when they came across the article.

And most importantly for everyone, including visitors, this scheme can only improve as the process gets further refined to make ads more relevant to what you're looking for, not just a couple of keywords on a site.

Nowadays, it is because of Adsense that Internet surfers are looking after more interesting related things from banners, and the companies behind the site (Google and the advertiser) need to have better ideas to display, as expectations have increased a great deal.

So could "Do no evil" actually work in today's cut throat competitive marketplace? Well, as you can see it can and it does. And you, as a visitor are the one who gets to enjoy this the most. Advertising becomes less of a burden and more of a benefit, and is still a benefit you can choose to ignore.

Less obtrusive banners; banners that you're actually likely to be interested in and click means you'll be less annoyed by surfing the web and feel like you as a visitor being offered a relevant service.

Although some may feel reluctant to read articles that are there purely to compel consumers, undoubtedly without this consideration they are useful. Ultimately the adverts mean that you don't have to go back to your homepage every time you are compelled to complete a purchase. sanjuLata

Hints and Tips - Traditional Sales

When we refer to "traditional auctions", we mean those sales where the bidding process is conducted in person by an auctioneer, rather than controlled by a website or online computer program.

Even though internet auctions are becoming ever more popular, many types of goods do not lend themselves well to being sold online, unless a visual inspection is carried out prior to any bidding. For example, second-hand plant, machinery, equipment, stocks and vehicles really need to be viewed "in the flesh" before a condition assessment and a realistic valuation can be made. Close-up photographs and lengthy descriptions may be very useful when deciding whether an item is of interest, but are no substitute for a detailed visual inspection when deciding to actually make a purchase and how much to bid.

Traditional auctions, therefore, continue to provide the bargain hunter with plenty of great money saving opportunities.

No matter what goods you buy, by whatever method, there will always be an element of risk and pitfalls to be wary of. Because items for sale by auction are generally sold "as seen" and without written guarantees, these risks can be higher. Always bear in mind though, that this must be weighed against the fact that the potential rewards are much higher too!

So, for those who are new to auctions, we have set out below some basic hints, tips and guidelines that should help you avoid making costly mistakes and make good profits (or savings) from your auction trading.
  • Obtain a catalogue in advance, especially if you are travelling a considerable distance to the auction. You can then be reasonably confident that the goods for sale are of interest to you.
  • Auctions instructed by Customs & Excise and the Inland Revenue are often subject to cancellation at short notice and it is worth the cost of a phone call on the morning of sale to confirm that the sale is to go ahead
  • Thoroughly inspect the items you intend to bid for. This might appear to be stating the obvious, however, because most items for sale at auction are sold with no guarantee, the golden rule is "Buyer Beware". Often, you will be able to view the goods a day or two prior to sale day, whilst at other sales, viewing is on the day of sale only. If this is the case, allow plenty of time to locate and inspect the items prior to the sale. For security reasons, some auction houses cease further viewing at the commencement of the sale
  • If in doubt about the condition, safety or legality of an item, do not buy. If an item is sold "with faults", can it be easily repaired?
  • Beware of goods which have been stripped for spares before being entered in the sale! Sometimes it is possible to test the goods prior to the auction - ask the auctioneer. Some vehicle auctioneers, for instance British Car Auctions, allow up to one hour after purchase in which to return the vehicle if any major defects are found
  • Set yourself a price limit before bidding and stick to it. It can be all too easy to get carried away with the excitement of the sale, and end up paying over the odds. Consider what the item would cost new, and how much it would cost if bought from a dealer with a guarantee
  • Check for any changes to the catalogue and listen to any alterations the auctioneer may make verbally prior to auctioning off each lot
  • If you bid for the wrong lot, tell the auctioneer immediately. Strictly speaking, once you have made a successful bid for a lot, you have a legal obligation to pay for it. However, in the case of genuine mistakes, the auctioneer will often try to re-sell the item, although you may have to make up any shortfall in the price
  • Don't forget the additional costs. Many auctioneers charge a "Buyers Premium" on top of the hammer price and V.A.T. will normally be payable (look under the conditions of sale in the catalogue)
  • Note: The distinction between the "traditional" and "online" auction has now become somewhat hazy, as many auctioneers now accept online and telephone bids at their sales as in the case of "Webcast" auctions. There may also be "proxy bids" (confidential maximum bids for items) left with the auctioneer, by persons who are unable to attend but still wish to bid up to a certain limit. Therefore, by no means all the potential buyers will be in attendance at the traditional auction sale. Auction Guide
